Farm Business Innovation Show - Safely Returning to "Normality"

    By Chloe Alonzi

    Published Sep 23

As the world is slowly but surely returning to “normality” as we once knew it, we are delighted to be welcoming back the Farm Business Innovation Show this year on the 10th & 11th November at the NEC Birmingham. Whilst we are excited to finally be opening doors again in person, we appreciate that there are some reservations surrounding attending such busy events and mixing with other people after being in our own bubbles for so long. We wouldn’t be going ahead with this event if we didn’t feel it was safe, and we want to make sure that you feel safe attending the show and have the best experience possible. Following government guidelines and advice from the team at the NEC, these are the measures currently in place to ensure the safety of everyone at the event:Anyone wishing to enter any of the Rural Entrepreneur shows will have to provide either proof of double vaccination or a negative lateral flow test within 48 hours of attending - please note that there will be a limited number of lateral flow tests available at the venue, however these will be distributed on a first come first served basisTesting and tracing is supported at the event and all exhibitors, visitors, staff etc onsite will be recordedVisitors have been asked to pre-register for tickets which are being sent to you to bring along with you, to limit unnecessary contact with staffMasks are no longer mandatory as per government guidelines, however they are advisedThe NEC have also taken extra steps to increase the safety of their venue, including:Testing and tracing is supported via pre-booked parkingTouch points throughout the venue are limitedSanitising stations present throughout the venueEnhanced sanitation throughout both days across the venue, particularly focussing on frequent contact servicesWashroom attendants present to ensure hygiene standards are maintained at all timesWe understand that the thought of being in a room full of people, and for many of you for the first time in over a year, can be quite daunting, but we promise to do everything we can to make you feel as comfortable and safe as possible. It has been an incredibly tough year for the agricultural industry and we have been making sure that the Farm Business Innovation Show provides everything you could possibly need and more to support you on your diversification and innovation journey...

"In general, for a revenue policy (RP) a producer selects the percent of average yield they would like to insure -- usually between 50 and 75 percent although in some areas it can be as high as 85 percent. In addition, producers can choose an RP that has a harvest price option or one with a harvest price exclusion. If producers choose insurance with the harvest price option RMA will calculate their guaranteed revenue for insurance purposes using the higher of either the harvest price or the initial guaranteed price. Producers who choose RP with the harvest price exclusion will not benefit from higher harvest prices compared to the initial guaranteed price, but they also will pay less for crop insurance."

After remaining relatively unchanged since inception, several enhancements and improvements to the LRP insurance program for cattle have taken place over the last three years. With the recent changes, producer participation in the LRP insurance program in Nebraska has increased dramatically.

Great post from @Angie Setzer regarding marketing concerns: "You're not crazy, higher markets can almost bring more stress than when the markets are low. When the markets are low everyone is suffering, but when the market is high you end up feeling so alone. But you're not alone."
