Vietnam authorized the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu to establish a High-Tech Shrimp Breeding Zone
PM Phuc made the approval on September 20 in Ha Noi while chairing a meeting with Bac Lieu local leaders.
The coastal province boasts for the largest aquaculture cultivation area in the Mekong Delta Region with nearly 1,280 km2 which is roughly a half of its natural area.
It was the second biggest shrimp producer in Viet Nam with an annual output of around 105,000 tons and US$ 500 million of export turnover.
In addition, Bac Lieu serves as the center of broodstock for the whole region and country.
