Has anyone had luck with an electric fence keeping deer off beans

40 acres of 30” row organic food grade soybeans and the deer ruin about 3 acres around the edge

A fellow AgFuse member wrote this article: "Deer Damage and What Farmers Can Do About It." He lists some pointers and resources about fencing and also touches on additional options for minimizing deer damage including the use of livestock guardian dogs, electronic deer deterrents, and hunting.

One of those linked-to resources in the article is from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and lists eleven "Electric Deer Barrier Principles” to keep in mind along with some general advice as to what electric fence designs will actually be effective.

I just saw this article in the Soybeans group. “The more strands you put up the better, but we’ve found that one strand about knee high, if kept really hot, can be effective ... . It’s preventing about 90% of the deer damage.”
