There is one way to overcome this obstacle that many growers face when caring for their plants, which is foliar application of nutrients... Foliar application of amino acids is substantially healthier for the plant because there is much less interference from other unwanted chemicals that occurs often when applying nutrients through the soil... Aspartic Acid is a nitrogen source that is essential for the synthesis of other amino acids and plays an important role throughout the early plant growth stages...

Advantages of seaweed fertilizer for plants

    By Darren Chan

    Published Dec 31, 2019

Below are the advantages of seaweed fertilizer for plants:1 Nutrient-richThe active seaweed fertilizer contains a large amount of non-nitrogen-containing organic matter, including 40 kinds of minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and iodine, and abundant vitamins, which are unmatched by terrestrial plants, especially seaweed polysaccharides unique to seaweeds. Alginic acid, highly unsaturated fatty acids and a variety of natural plant growth regulators can stimulate the production of non-specific active factors in plants and regulate the balance of endogenous elements... Alginic acid in seaweed fertilizer can reduce the surface tension of water, forming a layer of film on the surface of the plant, increasing the contact area, water-soluble substances are relatively easy to penetrate the surface cells of stems and leaves so that plants can effectively absorb the nutrients in the seaweed extract... At the same time, the chelation system formed by seaweed polysaccharides and humic acid can release nutrients slowly and extend fertilizer efficiency... They are high-quality fertilizers for the production of harmless vegetables...

How Yield Champions Use Cover Crops for Growing Higher Bushels

    By Laura Barrera

    Published Jun 1, 2018

While Russell Hedrick didn’t intend for his yield-winning corn to follow corn — most of his farm is in a corn-soybean rotation, occasionally with some small grains — it proved just how beneficial cover crops can be in a mono-cropping situation... His intention with the small grains was to sequester carbon, build soil organic matter, suppress weeds and improve the soil’s water retention as well as water infiltration rates, while the legumes were used for balancing the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. He’s been trying to provide organic amino acid forms of nitrogen over commercial fertilizer. “If you apply synthetic nitrogen, there’s a whole complex process that has to take place to convert those into plant-available amino acid forms,” Hedrick explains... For example, his burndown costs roughly $18 per acre...
