Advantages of seaweed fertilizer for plants

    By Darren Chan

    Published Dec 31, 2019

Seaweed fertilizer is an organic fertilizer produced by accurate processing of marine plant seaweed as the primary raw material. The main component is the natural organic active material extracted from kelp. Below are the advantages of seaweed fertilizer for plants:1 Nutrient-richThe active seaweed fertilizer contains a large amount of non-nitrogen-containing organic matter, including 40 kinds of minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and iodine, and abundant vitamins, which are unmatched by terrestrial plants, especially seaweed polysaccharides unique to seaweeds. Alginic acid, highly unsaturated fatty acids and a variety of natural plant growth regulators can stimulate the production of non-specific active factors in plants and regulate the balance of endogenous elements. 2 Easily absorbed by plantsThe active ingredients in seaweed fertilizers are particularly active after they have been specially treated, and they enter the plants within 2 to 3 hours after application, and they have a speedy absorption and conduction velocity...

Why Mycorrhiza is important in Agriculture

    By Darren Chan

    Published Jul 12, 2019

There is no doubt that mycorrhizae play the important role in plant growth. They help build soil aggregate structure to provides plant roots with a better & healthy environment to healthy and strong growth. Their symbiotic relationship with plants helps them access extra water and nutrients source in soil. How does it workMycorrhizal spores germinate when in contact with plant roots and form filaments (hyphae), which create a symbiotic relationship increasing the plants ability to uptake fixed nutrients and water, improving plant performance... Based on these two characteristics, we divided functions into two parts:For SoilIncrease soil’s water & nutrition holding capacity...

What’s the Crumb structure in soil?

    By Darren Chan

    Published Jul 4, 2018

First of all,let us understand the soil structureThe soil is a porous system. It consists of solid, liquid and gas three-phase substances. The solid material in the soil includes both mineral and organic matter. The liquid part refers to the moisture of the soil, which is preserved and moved between the pores of the soil and is the most active part of the soil... Because water and gas are coordinated, thermal properties such as soil heat capacity generated by water and gas are moderate,so the soil temperature can also be stabilized...

Why is soil salinization a problem?

    By Darren Chan

    Published Aug 21, 2019

What’s Soil SalinizationSoil salinization is one of the most vital soil problems for agricultural production. Salinization refers to the salt content of the level affecting agricultural and environmental health. Soil salinization usually occurs in arid areas, In these areas, soluble salt ions accumulate in the soil... When soil gets wet, it’s water infiltration capacity reduces as well... Specific Ion ToxicitySome ions (particularly chloride) are toxic to plants and as the concentration of these ions increases, the plant is poisoned and dies...

Ten Ways to Increase Your Farm's Profits This Year

    By AgFuse Exclusive Content

    Updated Dec 30, 2019

So, what about smaller purchases that you know will make you more efficient, purchases that you’ve been putting off because times are tight? You can easily become more efficient by upgrading your nurse tank capacity or buying a portable welder... What Is Equipment Efficiency? There is an optimal size for your farm based on whatever acreage capacity your equipment currently has... To gain field capacity, you want to optimally go wider with these machines rather than adding additional units... When we look at this cropping system annually, we ask ourselves where the bottleneck is based on our current equipment capacity... The 800 acres for each is optimal based on our current equipment capacity...

What Farmers Need to Know About Mycorrhizae

    By Laura Barrera

    Published Nov 2, 2018

If someone asked you, “How do plants take up the water and nutrients they need?” you’d probably tell them through the roots. But did you know that for many crops, those roots aren’t working alone? That’s because most plant species associate with mycorrhizal fungi. What is mycorrhizal fungi? University of Alberta biological scientist JC Cahill says that mycorrhizas are actually the interaction between a fungus and a plant. Although there are many different types of mycorrhizae, the only one crop farmers need to be concerned about is arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), as 65% of plant species associate with it... “We know that adding fertilizer doesn’t always increase crop yield because there are going to be some farms and conditions that have enough fertilizer, or you get toxicity,” he explains...
