    By Denise Attaway

    Updated Mar 28, 2022

The Palmetto State is home to some of the best peaches in the southeastern United States. But pleasing the palate is not the only role peaches play in South Carolina. The peach industry also is a major contributor to the state’s economy... One discussion was what growers can do now that the insecticide chlorpyrifos has been banned for use on food crops... The Environmental Protection Agency banned the use of chlorpyrifos on food and feed crops in August 2021...

Why more and more people choose to use triacontanol to increase yield?

    By Sophia Cheng

    Published Feb 7

#Triacontanol is a plant #growth promoter with a wide range of applications. It has good effects on rice, cotton, wheat, soybeans, corn, sorghum, tobacco, sugar beets, peanuts, vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, sugar cane, etc. The effect of increasing production is more than 10%. It is also a highly efficient and rapid plant growth promoter, which can significantly promote plant growth at a very low concentration. When used as a nutrient fertilizer on the foliage of crops, only 1 mg can increase the yield of crops with a planting area of 0...

Do you know 5-ALA ?Study on the Effect of Different Concentrations of 5-ALA on Yulu Fragrant Pear

    By Sophia Cheng

    Published Jan 30

In July 2021, Liu Huifang of Shanxi Agricultural University and others published the article Research on the Application of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid on Yulu Fragrant Pears. Studies have shown that spraying low concentrations (0. 1/1. 0/10mg/L) of ALA during the growing season can significantly improve the photosynthetic performance of pear leaves and improve the internal quality of fruits; spraying high concentrations (50/100/150/200mg/L) during the veraison period ALA can effectively promote fruit coloring and improve fruit appearance quality... The research results also show that the concentration of 1-100mg/L ALA has effects in different growth cycles of crops, which can improve quality, promote color change, increase sweetness, increase production and income!...

    Okra seedling diseases

    By Robert Lopez

    Published Oct 27, 2020

Okra is a fruit that has its origin in Africa, and in recent times it has been gaining ground in greengrocers in many countries in America and Europe. If we are going to describe its appearance, we could probably define it as a function between a zucchini and a green pepper. It is widely used in Asian cuisine, especially for its ability to thicken soups and broths. But we will not talk about the recipes that can be carried out with this fruit, which are many, but about the most common diseases that okra seedlings usually suffer. And it is that of all the stages of development of these plants, it is when they are small when they are most vulnerable to the attack of pests and diseases...

    How to Grow Moss

    By Robert Lopez

    Published Feb 25

Moss is one of the oldest forms of life on earth. It can be found in moist areas such as bogs and forests, and is a key component of moss gardens. Mosses are plants that have chlorophyll but lack other parts of photosynthesis like leaves or stems. They get their oxygen and nutrients from soil moisture or sunlight. Some mosses, like liverworts and hornworts, are also known as vascular plants because they have vascular tissues that carry water and nutrients around the plant...

How important is increasing cover crop mass when timing burndown?

Is there a lot of benefit to letting cover crops grow a tremendous amount of vegetation prior to terminating them or do the risks of increased planting difficulty make it not worth the trouble?

It could possibly be a magnesium deficiency. I've seen similar symptoms in other orchard crops and traced it back to that. However, the best way to accurately diagnose is with both soil and tissue tests. Also, look for any patterns you see such as the number of trees affected and the location of trees showing symptoms.

"Sunburn is a major issue in apple production, resulting up to 40% yield loss (Schrader et al., 2006). ... For several years, the fruit surface temperature (FST) has been used as a reliable indicator of the sunburn susceptibility (Rackso and Schrader, 2012). Several contact type instruments, e.g., thermocouples, thermal probes, etc. have been used to measure FST. However, these methods can be inaccurate, data-limited, destructive, and laborious (Wang et al., 2020). Therefore, our research group has developed and validated a field-deployable, crop physiology sensing system (CPSS) prototype for accurate and real-time apple FST estimation."
