It’s common knowledge among peanut farmers that the farther out you space your peanut crops in your rotation, the better off the peanuts will be... Growing peanuts in a 2-year rotation increased average yield by 1,872 pounds per acre, while a 3-year rotation increased it an average 2,332 pounds... “There’s been research that has shown that if you grow continuous peanuts, we start seeing a lot of disease issues that are going to reduce the yield,” says Dr... “Primarily, diseases like white mold tend to be more prevalent when you have continuous peanuts... ”Growing peanuts and other legume crops too close in rotation to peanuts can result in white mold (shown in photo) or Cylindrocladium black rot on the peanut crop...

Although about 80% of the nitrogen in the air can not be directly used by ordinary plants, peanuts, but soybeans, alfalfa and other leguminous plants can only convert the molecular nitrogen in the air into ammonia nitrogen that can be used by plants through symbiotic nitrogen fixation with rhizobia. After the seeds germinate and take root, rhizobia invade the roots from the root hairs. Under certain conditions, they form nodules with nitrogen fixing ability. Under the action of nitrogen fixing enzymes, the bacteroids in the nodules convert molecular nitrogen into ammonia nitrogen. At the same time, each nodule is a miniature nitrogen fertilizer plant, which continuously delivers nitrogen to plants for utilization...
